Perhaps you’ve heard the buzz the last couple months about Camp Stevens’s strategic planning process. There was a survey at the beginning of the summer many of you took online (thank you!), a board and staff retreat in July, and lots of committee work between then and now to develop a new mission statement, core values, and six strategic planning goals.
And now, it’s finally time to share!
Rooted in the Episcopal Church and the natural world, Camp Stevens core values are: Openness, Gratitude, Connection, and Wonder.
Openness: We celebrate diversity and welcome all to our table to listen to and learn from one another.
Gratitude: We believe that gratitude toward one another, the natural world, and God is the foundation upon which humans build a healthier, more sustainable, and loving world.
Connection: We challenge all who experience this peaceful place apart to reconnect with themselves and connect meaningfully with one another, the natural world, and the Divine.
Wonder: We believe that a sense of wonder transforms adults and children alike, renewing joy, excitement, and mystery in the world we live in.
Please help us share Camp Stevens new mission statement and core values by answering this question: How do you experience the Camp Stevens mission? Tell us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with #campstevensmission!
In addition to the survey, board/staff meeting, and committee work mentioned above, the building blocks of the process included an openness to new possibilities, gratitude for 60+ years of tradition and people, wondering about and analyzing our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) as an organization, and connection to one outstanding consultant who kept the process moving.
Finally, over the course of the next few months and years, we’ll be working toward the following goals:
GOAL #1: Continue to Pursue Creative Programming While Maintaining and Enhancing Existing Operations
GOAL #2: Increase Financial Stability by Building Up and Nurturing Our Donor Forest
GOAL #3: Create a 5-Year Plan to Develop Partnerships and Programs with Organizations and Schools in order to promote Camp Stevens as well as provide support to our local community
GOAL #4: Strengthen and Articulate Episcopal Identity
GOAL #5: Analyze and Adjust Internal Staff Infrastructure to Maximize Skills and Talents of Staff Roles and Responsibilities
GOAL #6: Anticipation of and Preparedness for Environmental Threats
I look forward to your reflections and feedback and to sharing the impact and continued progress of this strategic planning work with you over the next few months and years.
