Green greener greenest, Wednesday's Whim

Wednesday’s Whim: Vernal Equinox

“Behold, my friends, the spring has come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love.” Sitting Bull

You’ve probably already seen the springtime pictures on the Camp Stevens Facebook page; but just in case, I thought I’d take the opportunity to share some more images from around camp on this Vernal Equinox day.  Between the flowers and trees, the seedlings popping up out of the dirt, and the sound of outdoor education kids playing on the lawn, it’s obvious that spring has sprung at Camp Stevens!

The recently finished root mosaic in the Kitchen Garden – thanks for all your work on it, Abbey!

Seeds planted about 2 weeks ago in the greenhouse are hearty and healthy.

Winter onions at the farm.

Last Friday rows of seeds went directly into the ground and now we wait!

The new home for some of our egg-laying chickens at the farm – they seem delighted to be able to stretch out and enjoy the grass.

This soil is just itching for some seeds to grow!

The orchard promises lots and lots of stone fruit this year – peaches and plums and apricots, oh my!
