I’ll admit it: I’m a sucker for those “internet holidays”. You know, National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day, or International Talk Like a Pirate Day. I could be ofty and say that it’s because that having something to celebrate each day helps me find the joy in everyday life but honestly: I just find them amusing.
There’s nothing funny about today though. Today is #GivingTuesday, the non-profit world’s chance to capitalize on that somewhat inexplicable nationwide post-Thanksgiving buying binge. Today, you’re encouraged to give to a charity instead of to a corporation; to honor someone with a gift that means a little something more than its dollar amount; to put your money where your values are, not just what the sales are.
We hope you’ll consider giving to Camp Stevens today, and throughout the holiday season. We have launched Gifts of Gratitude, which allows you to donate on behalf of someone you love to an important area of the Camp Stevens mission: Program development, facilities, or food philosophy. Donate any amount you choose in the name of someone (It’s a gift that fits anyone and everyone!) on your gift list, and printout a card to give to them with the information on the gift. It’s the kind of gift that goes farther than your loved one’s closet.
It’s official – we are participating. The check is on the way!
