  1. Not exactly “the last thing” or maybe it was, but the expansion from that “thing” continues. I became seriously ill in October 2008. The following 7 months I found myself in the ‘Valley of the Shadow of Death.’ I was paralyzed, a machine breathed for me, I was completely dependent on the kindness and competence of others. In the next 6 months I began to regain awareness and movement, I (re)learned how to breathe on my own. After a 13 month hospital stay I left in a wheelchair and some hope. That experience looked like a contraction of everything, but it was really an expansion. And, the expansion continues. The old boundaries have been shattered and I continue to explore “new” dimensions. Thank you for prompting this reflection.
