Ever wonder what a camper might actually do at Camp Stevens? Here’s an idea of what the morning might look like from the perspective of a camper:
I wake up in my cabin to a bright, sunny day. I know, because I can see the sky from my bed. I brush my teeth and get dressed, wondering if I should just put my bathing suit on now so I’m ready when free time (pool time!) comes. My counselor asks me 7 gazillion times if I have my water bottle and if I’ve put on sunscreen. I respond by asking what we’re going to do all day. We go back and forth about these life questions for awhile. Then it’s time for breakfast. Bagel day! A counselor at my table shows me how to make a sausage bagel sandwich. I go outside with my two new best friends and sit on the shady steps under a big tree. A Frisbee flies by us. We decide to roll down the hill. It is so much fun! We go over and over. When the bell rings, that means it’s time to go to our meeting spot. We meet our counselors by the basketball court. As we gather with the other cabin that makes up our group – they’re boys, and some of them are okay – there is a lot of shouting and laughing about who stayed up the latest and what we might be doing today. Our counselors ask us – again! – about our water bottles and sunscreen, then we head out on another adventure.
