Stumping for St. Tim’s snow

St. Timothy’s is an Episcopal school in Compton, California, and one of our original Outdoor Education schools, having come up here each February for 30 years. This program is a bit different from most of the other schools we do outdoor education with, for mainly three reasons:

  1. They bring not just one grade, but a wide age range (3rd through 8th graders);
  2. Many of the students come for several years in a row;
  3. It almost always snows when they are here.

Though they are used to sunny southern California, and have nothing resembling appropriate snow clothing, the kids love it. And wouldn’t you? Snow is always exotic when you’re young, and all the more so when you’ve never seen it before (and you don’t have to shovel it…).

Snow isn’t in the forecast this week — in fact, tomorrow is supposed to be 65 degrees — so we need your help! Wherever you are, join us in a snow dance, in the hopes that the tradition of exposing kids to the exotic can continue.
