Planting seeds

From Camp Directors around the country to nurses and political aides, Camp Stevens has many talented “alumni.” It’s our pleasure to share with you a project from one of those alumni, filmmaker Garrett Phelps. Garrett came up to camp this past spring to document our new Outdoor Education program, SEEDS: Eco-Logic for Teens. A new project, and a new program (and one that’s highly customizable with each participating group)…we weren’t entirely sure what we’d wind up with. But we’ve been blown away by how Garrett captured both the idealism and the empowerment that comes with getting dirty outdoors and learning something new. I’m sure you’ll agree. Please share this video with a friend, and your comments with us below.

Our appreciation to St. Margaret’s of San Juan Capistrano for their participation, the Seamen’s Church Institute of Los Angeles for making this video possible, and to the San Diego Women’s Foundation, whose grant helped us initiate the SEEDS program.
